ABSENCE – Please call Park (436-1212 Press #1) at any time to report your child’s absence from school. An answering machine will record your information after 4:00 p.m. and prior to 7:00 a.m. Student absences need to be reported to our office by 8:30 a.m. on the day of the absence. If your child needs to leave school before the end of the day, please call in advance. A pass will be sent to your child and they will be waiting for you in the office.
OFFICE HOURS – The school office is open from 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
STUDENT MESSAGES – There may be a time when you need to relay a message to your child. Messages for all students will be delivered as quickly as possible from the main office.
INTERCOM USE – To avoid disrupting meetings, the school intercom will not be used to page students after school.
LUNCH – SNAP is the name of our cafeteria cash register system, which is used in all secondary Lincoln Public Schools. Money is deposited into the student’s personal account (called a prepayment). When food is purchased, the computer subtracts the cost from the student’s balance. Prepayments may be made before school (7:30 –7:55 a.m.). Prepayments may also be made through the LPS website (www.lps.org), via electronic check or credit card. Choose “Buy Student Meals” under “Popular Pages”. There is a fee for each prepayment made through the website. The fee is different for each of the two prepayment methods.
Lunches cost $2.25 (cost is subject to change) and may be purchased three different ways: (1) for school lunch meal only; (2) school lunch meal and ala cart food items; or (3) cash only, to be spent as wished. A parent or guardian needs to indicate on their check or in a written note how they want the money deposited in their student’s account.
If you wish to prepay before school starts, Ms. Diana Jackson, our cafeteria manager, will be here at Fall Back-to-School Night (August 16th) in the cafeteria to take money for your SNAP account. If a student or parent/guardian has questions or concerns about the account, please speak with Ms. Jackson.
Free or reduced lunch and breakfast is available by application only. Applications must be submitted and approved each year. Even if your student qualified last year, you must submit a new application for the 2017-2018 school year to be eligible for free/reduced meals. A renewal application will be sent to you directly from the LPS Nutrition Services Department. Applications will also be available the night of the Orientation or your student can pick them up in the counseling office during the school day. Completed applications should be returned to the counseling office as quickly as possible to ensure processing is completed prior to the start of school.
BREAKFAST – A full service breakfast program will be available every morning at 7:30 a.m. for all students. Cost will be $1.40.
WHAT IF MY STUDENT WILL NOT BE ATTENDING PARK MIDDLE SCHOOL? – Please contact the school registrar, Jeannie Doehring, at 436-1243 so we can arrange to have records forwarded to the appropriate school.
BUSED STUDENTS – If you live more than four miles away from Park, you should have received a mailing from LPS. If you did not, call the Transportation Department at 436-1073.
PARK INTRAMURAL PROGRAM (for 7th and 8th graders) – Students are encouraged to participate in intramural sports programs. Please keep in mind that our emphasis is on having fun, learning how to play and giving everyone a chance to participate. Individual coaches will have their own criteria for selection of teams and playing times.
Games will be held on Saturday mornings. The Lincoln Public Schools will not provide transportation. Parent(s)/guardians(s) will be responsible for taking student athletes to game destinations. Students should arrive at game sites between 8:00 and 8:15 a.m. on Saturday game days. Gyms will not be open until 8:00 a.m. Students should be picked up no later than 10:30 a.m. at game sites. Due to limited gym space and Lincoln Public School guidelines, please keep in mind that Saturday morning activities are open only to those students who are participating in the activity. Family members are encouraged to attend these events to support their son/daughter that are involved. Non-participating students are not to attend events at their home school or at other LPS middle schools.
Students will be given a schedule of games and addresses prior to the start of the season. If you have any questions, please contact our athletic director, Mark Cuddy (ext. 277), at 436-1212.
** Special Activities will be offered for 6th grade students at various times throughout the year.
